Swoon-worthy Maternity Photos at the Beach

Oh my word, to tell you how excited I was to be able to capture these summer maternity photos at the beach. Well, I just can’t put it into words. I think I need to start with…Lee & Melvin did me the honor of entrusting me to both plan and photograph their wedding.

So, when Lee told me a few months later that they were expecting…I was thrilled beyond imagination and besides myself when she scheduled me to capture their summer maternity photos at the beach! First of all, Lee is one of the most beautiful, hard working, dedicated and loyal women I have ever met. Her and Melvin love each other fiercely. Secondly, while I have captured many maternity sessions, I have never had the pleasure of doing it in the summer. Most of my previous maternity sessions have taken place in the fall. So, this was a nice change. 

Lee chose 2 maternity gowns for her session, the first was a glorious red dress that reflected back on their recent wedding. Their colors were red and platinum. This dress featured a skirt that was meant to flare in the wind…my favorite kind because they create such dramatic images. It hugged her round belly in all the right ways. She looked stunning against the backdrop of the Lake. To compliment his glowing bride, Melvin wore a red polo shirt and black slacks. It was the perfect combo between formal and casual for summer maternity photos at the beach in historic North East, Pa. 

The next outfit Lee changed into transported us to a tropical beach. She reminded me of Moana from the Disney cartoon. The vibrant hot pink dress with an opening to show off her belly was to die for. And she accessorized it perfectly with a white floral crown. She looked just like a Polynesian Princess. Because we met during golden hour the sky exquisitely complimented the pink outfit with bursts of color. Because it was cloudy that evening we weren’t able to capture the world famous sunset we normally have on Lake Erie, but I did set up a few silhouette shots to showcase the drama in the sky and capture the outline of Lee’s growing Belly. 

Their sweet baby girl will be here in just a few weeks and I’ll post an update with newborn photos when it happens! Congratulations to one of my favorite couples, Lee & Melvin!
