Outdoor Maternity Photo Session in Erie Pa
Expectant parents, Chelsea & Dave reached out to us about doing an outdoor maternity photo session to document the birth of their first child. We were more than honored to be able to preserve this milestone in their journey together. Seeing a couple become a family is one of the biggest privileges of this career. I can’t think of anything I love more than seeing the pure joy on mom and dad’s faces as they look at each other in anticipation of meeting the little person they created together.
Soon-to-be-parents, Chelsea & Dave, entrusted us with choosing a location for their shoot. Because it was already November and we knew we’d lost most of the fall colors, we opted for one of our favorite spots right on the lake. It was strategic because Lake Erie stays warmer longer than the rest of Erie County so we were hoping to find some leaves still left on the trees. And, while most leaves had fallen, there were a few stragglers hanging on with brightly colored yellow. We intentionally set our proud parents up in front of those vivid yellow leaves for this outdoor maternity photo session.
We met just about an hour before dusk in our favorite park in North East, Pa because typically we like to shoot during golden hour. The warm golden glow is amazing for photos. But, once again with this time of year the sun fades quickly and the light is more blue than golden. Luckily, we always bring along additional lighting so we were prepared for some after dusk photos for this sweet couples outdoor maternity photo session.
We tried to stay as close to the wooded areas and tree line of the park as possible as most of the foliage had disappeared for the year so dramatic environmental shots weren’t really possible. However, the bare trees made an excellent comparison to the life growing inside of Chelsea and we thought it created an intriguing image.
Chelsea and Dave did bring a pair of baby shoes with them so we captured quite a few shots of their little one’s first pair of sneakers against mom’s belly. What a sweet way to preserve the excitement of that last trimester before this duo becomes a trio.
