Mesmerizing Maternity Shoot at Asbury Woods

Obsessed is the only word I can think of to describe this magical autumn maternity shoot at Asbury Woods. This session was straight magic. It was like a fairytale came to life. First off, it’s really important to me that you know that this glowing mom-to-be is a good friend of mine. We’ve known each other since we were young adults and according to her memory (which is better than mine) we hung out in the same crowd as teenagers and met a few times. I was probably to concerned with cute band boys back then to remember all the amazing ladies I met. And that’s my fault, because Marygail and I didn’t get the chance to reconnect until we were in our twenties and had a few small kids. 

So, to say I was STOKED for Marygail to be my first ever maternity shoot at Asbury Woods…or anywhere else for that matter…is…understating it by a LOT. It was so exciting for me to capture this gorgeous mama with her last little one. Proud dad-to-be Jeff was along for the ride and we captured some stunning photos of the two of them together. 

Marygail had just had her baby shower a few days before we met up so she saved the unbelievably adorable floral crown she had made for the shower. And..boy did she ever bring it with a soft, lacy creamy colored maternity gown. It just felt like a fairytale princess had stepped into my life. Marygail & Jeff may get the award for the best dressed maternity photography couple. He complimented her outfit perfectly in a white tailored shirt and jeans. 

We started this maternity shoot at Asbury Woods by hiking down the trail towards the creek. Marygail told us it was one of her favorite spots in the popular park. Our first stop on the way was this breath taking field of yellow & cream wild flowers. This mom-to-be looked like a painting come to life in this setting. Next we made our way to the creek and captured some beautiful reflection images. Our last stop was this cute little hollow in the trees surrounding by towering old growth pines. That’s the image that ended up winning an award and making it to a special live editing presentation for my favorite photography school. I was so honored that my favorite photography teacher chose this image to include on the live broadcast introducing new editing software. 

In just a few short weeks we’ll be meeting up with Marygail and Jeff again to capture their little guy after they welcome him into the world. I can’t wait to update this gallery to include a link to his newborn session. Congrats to Marygail, Jeff & their families.
