April's Story - Senior Photography at the Erie Zoo
This class of 2020 Erie City High Graduate, April, chose to do her Senior Photography at the Erie Zoo. The Erie Zoo began operating around 1927 when an elephant “Tom-boy” was gifted to the city of Erie. A permanent home was finished for Tom-boy by 1929 and the park was officially open to the public for business. The Erie Zoo currently sits on 15 acres of land and is home to 400 animals and botanical gardens and a greenhouse with over 600 plants. April told us the Erie Zoo was one of her favorite places in the city to visit when she was a kid. That made her Senior Photography at the Erie Zoo the obvious choice. We were excited to have a senior choose such a fun, unique location for their session with us.
We met up with April for her Senior Photography at the Erie Zoo right by the front gates. The Zoo had a temporary display area with a cute trellised fence background that was the ideal spot to begin. April dressed in a cheery yellow sweater and classic blue jeans for most of her session. We walked the entirety of the zoo capturing images by the butterfly garden, penguin enclosure, rhino exhibit and the old African Safari Cafe.
After that April chose to change into her Erie High tennis outfit for her Senior Photography at the Erie Zoo. April enjoyed participating on the tennis team and wanted to commemorate that time during her senior photo session. We made our way back to the entrance of the zoo and took most of the photos on the yard across from the big house. We also used the stage on the education center for some cute images.
