We HATE them and I’ll tell you why. First, patterns play with the camera and can make you look wonky. Next, patterns can make an outdoor photo look too busy and actually hurt your eyes. There’s just too much going on…
And lastly, remember we talked about being classy? Patterns are one of the quickest ways to date yourself. Who wears polka dots anymore except Minnie Mouse? No one. But when you see the pattern you instantly think of the 1950’s. The only patterns that’s slightly acceptable is a plaid during the fall and I still advice against it in a photo session.

What I mean is…think like an artist. Wear complimentary colors. Avoiding patterns is a fantastic first step, but you also need to worry about colors clashing with each other in your photos.
